Amazon.com Every track on this CD contains a beautiful melody, many of them easily recognizable, all of them exuding tranquility. "O mio babbino caro" from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi opens the disc, with Bell delicately accompanied by a harp and spinning the long melody with great sensitivity. Bellini's "Casta diva" from Norma lives up to its reputation as the epitome of bel canto in Bell's hands; his violin sings. The middle movement of Mozart's 21st Piano Concerto takes well to the violin, and Debussy's "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair" is played with great warmth and sensuality. It would be easy to turn a recital like this into treacle, but Bell is wise enough to realize that the music is already sweet enough and he plays with great reserve and a minimum of sentimental slides. The light accompaniments always support, with woodwinds prominent but used with grace. This CD, in short, is a beauty: a fine gift, a lovely mood setter. --Robert Levine

Romance of the Violin March 14, 2010 Barney Montana This CD is wonderful, very relaxing. It came in excellent condition, and shipping was very fast.
Magical II January 8, 2010 Motley Wisdom (Southern California USA) Along with Voice of the Violin, this is the most beautiful collection of violin I have heard. In the car or in the home, just put it in the player and enjoy.
Simply wonderful listening October 29, 2009 M. Castro (San Diego CA) This is one I could listen to over and over again. Skillfully and beautifully done with great selections

Josh Bell's newest CD,"At home with friends" is a compliation of songs as if he was sitting around his home with friends and striking up an impromptu song. I give this CD a mixed rating. Love some and leave some other songs. I love the song with Sting, "Come Again". The vocals are matching the violin not the other way around and it shows a new aspect to both of their talents. The volume differences within the songs is hard to grasp. I was hoping it would be a "dinner party" CD, one that plays in the background of a dinner party. Unfortunately, the volume differs from song to song that I found myself turning it down and then turning it back up. If you aren't a violin fan, give this CD a try and you may find out that afterall you are a fan!
prepares me for romantic dancing September 14, 2009 Silverwaltz (Houston, TX) I admire the way Mr. Bell adopted famous piano music and arias into his own violin repertoire. I listen to this cd right before I take private dance lessons, and it well serves for the purpose. Every piece soothes my senses and calms my emotions even in the midst of crazy Houston highway driving. When I arrive at the studio, I am ready not just to dance but to perform with my inner romance. I feel Mr. Bell is extremely articulate and precise in playing his instrument....very faithful to the sheet music....I'd say he is rather brave. Some of the selection such as Schubert's Serenade and Traumerei was favorites from my childfood days. I am particulary fond of Chopin's Nocturne.
